Many teenage girls don’t see the need for a fitness routine at all. They think their bodies are too young for that, or that they can burn calories very easily, or that exercise and fitness regimens are too hard to follow. Some who begin to pay attention to it wonder what is best for them: gym or yoga! In this blog, I have tried to answer that:

The Benefits of Yoga for Teenage Girls

Yoga is beneficial for everyone. It may not be the thing that would make you lose a lot of weight quickly, but it offers benefits that no other fitness routine offers. Here are a few:

Ease Hormonal Issues

Yoga helps girls transition through adolescent years and the hormonal ups and downs that come with it. Women who are going through menopause and the subsequent hormonal changes would also benefit immensely from yoga.

Muscular Strength

Yoga wouldn’t help you shape your muscles as well as gym would. But it would help you strengthen your core and gain muscular strength.

Flexibility

Gyming makes your body toned strong. However, it doesn’t provide your muscles the kind of flexibility yoga gives. It awakens our muscles, transforms them and elongates them. This flexibility helps sustain our energies longer and lessens muscular wear and tear and fatigue. Pillates is also in the same league. In some ways, it is better than yoga.

Posture

This again is a unique feature that only workouts like yoga and pillates can give you. Teenagers are often criticized for their slouching postures. Working long hours on our screens also aggravate the issue. Doing yoga consistently fixes posture related issues and resolve neck and back pain in the long run.

Mindfulness and Calmness

Gym focuses solely on strengthening the muscles. The self-care it ensues makes up feel happier and accomplished.

Yoga also also makes you feel the same way. But it also calms our mind. Yoga makes us reflective and peaceful. It helps us get connected with our inner consciousness and emotions. One can say that yoga is not just a kind of exercise but a therapy, a lifestyle.

Convenience

When it comes to gyming, a lot of factors are involved. You have to find and get enrolled in a gym. You have to pay the subscription fee! You have to find the time. You have to get a trainer. You have to stick to exercise routine strictly, or your body would lose the muscle tone.

On the other hand, you can do yoga anywhere, at any time, without buying a lot of equipment. If you are busy with studies and are to young to join a gym on your own, yoga is the thing for you.

Yoga or Gyming? Which One Should I Choose

The answer to this question depends upon what you are looking to accomplish through your fitness routine: weight loss, energy, flexibility, mindfulness, toning of muscles, etc.

If you are not happy with your current weight and shape of the body, then gyming would help you lose weight, get a toned body easily. Lifting some weights and doing different kinds of exercises would help you lose weight, gain muscles. It would also give your metabolism a healthy boost and provide you with more endurance.

But if you are looking for mental fitness more than physical fitness then yoga would do wonders for you.

Make no mistake! Yoga is not just about breathing and postures! At an advanced level, it involves getting proper guidance and training from an yoga instructor. For instance, asthnaga yoga is like training your body to manage the weight.

You can even do yoga and gyming at the same time and give your body maximum benefit. Or, you can start with yoga so as to make your muscles and body get used to strain and wear and tear and acquire discipline. You can then join a gym.

Just Remember!

Everyone needs a fitness regimen. Teens need it too to cultivate a healthy and beautiful body and positive energy in life. Gyming and yoga both are beneficial for teenage girls. But I feel that yoga is more wholesome for teenagers, as it gives them a mind make over and not just a physical one. It helps them deal with hormonal changes, stress and anxiety. Yoga can make them become more calm and peaceful, so it transforms not just the body but your mind and lifestyle.
