We often hear the words ‘vibe’ and ‘energy’. Most of us have heard these terms being regarding meditative practices. However, vibrations and energy surround us all of the time, whether we meditate or not. This energy determines our moods, responses, and our overall health and wellness.

What is Energy, Frequency, Vibe or Vibrations? 

The word ‘energy’ is a term borrowed from physics, i.e., Einstein determined that everything and everyone is composed of energy-producing particles, which are constantly in motion. They are vibrating constantly at different frequencies and thus generating energy. 

When the energy that surrounds us is positive, our vibration is higher. The frequencies we would produce are higher and in sync with others’ frequencies. 

On the contrary, whenever our energies are down or negative, our vibration gets lower, our frequencies get disturbed and out of sync with the surrounding frequencies. 

How do Energy, Frequency, Vibe or Vibrations Impact Us 

Whether we like to accept or not, vibrations impact our lives. 

When our energy is negative, our vibration sinks. We feel disturbed, tired, unproductive, unresponsive, confrontational and unwell in mind and body. 

On the other hand, when our energy is positive, our vibration is higher. We feel relaxed, productive, intuitive, responsive and healthy in mind, body and spirit. 

So how would you define good and bad energy… 

How we perceive good energy and bad, good vibes and bad ones are a matter of personal interpretation and perspective: 

 
Positive Energy feels like a ray of light, bright, strong, light as a cloud, a whiff of breeze on your face, it’s like wearing a sweater on a cold day. Simply put, it’s a feel-good, just-feels-right sensation. 

Negative Energy feels like the presence of a dark feeling or entity, a pit of heaviness in your stomach, like an elephant sitting on your chest, It’s simply a bad, dreadful, ominous feeling, just-doesn’t-feel right sensation.  

3 Small Steps that can Shift Your Energy from Negative to Positive Instantaneously 

Shifting your energy from negative to positive is possible through small actions like these: 

Practice Self-care on a Regular Basis 

A body that is looked after, nourished, nurtured is healthy. It is a catalyst generating positive energy. It gets attuned to higher frequencies and vibrations and attracts them. You can practice self-care through the smallest of acts: 

  • Take deep, calculated breaths. 
  • Take a power nap. 
  • Enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, green tea. 
  • Massage your hands, feet and face with a favorite scented moisturizer.

Take Breaks Often  

Our routines and responsibilities are relentless, the world surrounding us is overwhelming. The demands start robbing you of your energy and peace of mind. So take a break, even momentarily. Do these: 

  • Distance yourself from people, purpose and narratives that don’t energize you. 
  • Excuse yourself from a tense, charged discussion. 
  • Hang up on someone unloading on you. 
  • Close the office door. 
  • Step away from a negatively charged space and go and sit into the other room!
  • Go outside to take a walk, sit on a bench! Connect with the sights and sounds of nature: green spaces, open skies, ocean waves, etc.

Practice Gratitude Every Moment 

No matter how small and ordinary the moment seems to be, infuse it with the power of gratitude. If people or things frustrate you, change the lens through which you see the world. 

Gratitude creates an instantaneous shift in your perspective and mindset and re-align your energies, so that:  

  • Scattered toys and clothes that look messy starts to feel like belonging to a place where children are allowed to enjoy their childhood. 
  • A sink full of dishes that looks overwhelming reminds you of meals cooked, enjoyed together and bellies being full. 
  • Daily commute and traffic jam that feel tiring transform into a journey. 
  • Your hustle, grind or job that feel challenging transform into a means to support your passion and earn your livelihood.

Remember, meditation, reiki and yoga are best practices to mend and heal your energy and raise your vibrations to the highest levels. But learning and practicing them takes time and discipline. However, the aforementioned steps are easy to initiate and maintain. So, start doing these from today.
